Review: Snyder’s Cut Justice League
April 14, 2021
With the COVID-19 pandemic halting most movie-making productions, there are limited big title superhero movies being released. Zack Snyder’s Justice League, otherwise known as #TheSnyderCut, is here to make up for the absence of movies. The total run time for this film is four hours long with each superhero, such as Batman, Wonder Woman, and Flash, receiving their own special moments in the movie. This new extended cut is being streamed now on HBO Max.
This latest movie took many years to be released since the original Justice League. During the production of the original, Zack Synder stepped down as the director midway through the production and handed down the job to Joss Whedon, who did not keep Snyder’s production. This left Snyder with his original production footage. Snyder also shot more clips and compiled the four-hour-long cut of Justice League.
The Snyder’s Justice League cut, just like the original release, shows Batman recruiting other superheroes in the DC universe like Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg to fight for their fallen superhero friend Superman who sacrificed his life to defeat Doomsday. Doomsday was also the previous villain in the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and teamed up with Lex Luthor. But Batman had a new view of the world and everyone on it after Superman’s act of bravery and how Superman sacrificed his life for Earth. A new problem also appears with Darkseid wanting to conquer Earth. Batman’s group works to defend Earth from Darkseid and his alien warriors that show a threat to Earth and everyone on it. This new Snyder cut is also more focused on the lore of the characters and story. With more lore added to the story, this means more background information related to each hero’s story was included.
This new Zach Snyder’s cut of Justice League brings more light to the story and the superheroes. This new shine of light on the background of each superhero helps fans understand the superheroes and their personal reason for fighting. It brought much more action, which was very surprising since not many superhero films can provide this amount of background story and action. All in all, Zack Snyder did a great job with his own cut and pleased many fans.
