Nathan Palomares is a senior and a staff writer for the Jag Journal. His future goal is to become a Journalist. His favorite color is blue and he has a love for history. Nathan also owns a pet cat. Nathan is an amazing team player and always turns in his work by the deadlines.

1.  How do you believe you have contributed to Segerstrom High School or the Santa Ana community in general? 

In some ways, I have contributed to Segerstrom by being helpful and friendly to my peers at school. With my friends I helped them as much as I can with their work and was always making sure they have a shoulder to lean on.

2.  What was your favorite memory at Segerstrom? 

My favorite memory at Segerstrom is laughing and spending time with my friends and talking with my teachers. These 4 years were the first time I really had friends. Ever since I met the people here at Segerstrom I’ve had amazing friends around me since freshman year. When there was hardship we supported each other giving ourselves confidence and pushing each other to be better.

3.  What were you involved in? 

I was involved in the Segerstrom Jag Journal. In the Jag Journal, I helped write articles and stories which were published on the website. The impact journalism had on me was helping me reach out more and show off my work. I wouldn’t have imagined giving interviews to people like teachers when I wrote a story about their retirement. The class kinda helped me be proud of my work.

4.  What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?

My parents would tell me to get involved ever since I was a freshman myself, and to be honest, that wasn’t me. I always struggled with speaking out and getting involved. As I’m a senior heading to college soon, now I look back at my high school experience and I’m a little regretful that I didn’t get out of my comfort zone. So my advice for freshmen is to have fun, work hard, and don’t be afraid to be you.
