With April being around the corner, we have reached a point in the year where most students are exhausted from what is to come and from the many long months that have gone by. With AP Exams and finals in May, most students are only pushing through because of the fact that summer vacation is a few months away. 

After this tumultuous year, especially with it being the first year we have been back since the start of COVID-19, most students are tired and patiently waiting for their long-deserved break. Now, all students are counting down the days until the calendar reads Jun 2, 2022, because then it will officially be the end of the 2021-2022 school year and the start of summer vacation. Many of the students at Segerstrom High School are ready to start new adventures or sleep in until noon. Students are looking forward to the warm weather, no school, late night trips to the beach, and sleepovers with their friends. Other students are going to be jetting off and going abroad and exploring new countries and cultures this summer. 

“This summer I am going on a cruise that will take us to many beautiful beaches in Mexico. I am very excited,” says Adamaris Hernandez (12).

Many other students have decided that they are going to spend their summer at home, working and even going out with their friends. For a majority of seniors, they are preparing themselves for their move and transition to colleges that are either a few hours away from their homes or across the county. 

“My summer plans are to prepare for college but still spend lots of quality time with my friends and family because I am going to be moving away for college and I will miss them so much. I’m going to spend as much time as I can with the people I love,” says Orlando Pineda (12).

Other students will be going on long-awaited trips to see family members that they have not seen for a long time. 

“This summer I will be going to Las Vegas to visit my grandma for the first time in a while and I am going to be preparing for college and maybe visiting the campus I will be going to,” says Nevaeh Gross (12) .

All in all, the students here at Segerstrom are very happy with all of the free time they will have and all of the new places that they will be exploring this summer.
