One of the most architecturally impressive stadiums is located in the beautiful city of Madrid. The Santiago Bernabéu stadium, completed in December 1947 and is still being renovated, was one of the most prominent venues in Madrid; hosting soccer, other sports, and concerts. During renovations, the stadium reopened on December 23, 2023. But, as of now, the full renovations are still not completed, as sometimes cranes can be spotted in the perimeter of the stadium.
The stadium’s main tenant is the soccer team “Real Madrid” which also has full venue ownership. The team has had the stadium since the day it was completed in 1947. Although there is another stadium in Madrid, the Metropolitano Stadium, the Santiago Bernabéu stadium has always been the better choice in the eyes of sports organizers.
The stadium has also hosted some of the biggest shows in Madrid, including Karol G, Taylor Swift, and The Rolling Stones. These concerts were a big deal for some of these artists, but that may soon be coming to an end for a little while.
Many residents of the stadium’s surrounding neighborhoods have been complaining about noise levels coming from the stadium in recent months. Due to this, and to comply with the city’s noise regulations, Real Madrid said it would reschedule or cancel all upcoming concerts that are taking place at the stadium, outraging many fans who had a concert coming up at the venue.
Music Bank was one of the most anticipated events coming to the stadium, having a lineup of some of the biggest K-Pop artists at the time. This included Enhypen, Aespa, and RIIZE. Some of the artists on the lineup have never performed in Europe, which excited many fans of the groups stationed there who were only met with disappointment.
The concert was set to take place on October 12, 2024, but after the football club announced the suspension of concerts, the event was postponed. The postponement came on September 13, 2024, the same day Real Madrid gave the news. Luckily for Spanish fans, the venue was later changed to the Miguel Rios Auditorium.
Other events affected by the new rule set into place include Spanish artists Dellafuente, Aitana, and Lola Índigos, all of which were meant to take place between November 2024 and March 2025. The artists affected were quick to post the news on their social media accounts and were flooded with support from their fans, as the artists are now trying to find other venues to hold their concerts or find another day. Currently, Aitana is the only artist who found new dates for her show, which are now set to take place on June 27 and 28 of 2025.
Lola Índigos posted on her Instagram account “It’s a blow, but we will come back stronger next year, promised!” They also said that they would announce new dates as soon as they could. The stadium is set to have concerts in late spring of 2025, but as of now, the wait some fans of these upcoming shows must endure is leaving them disappointed.
Although one of the most impressive venues to date, the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is already facing some problems preventing more amazing shows from coming to Madrid. Madrid will be expecting concerts to return in 2025 and many fans of artists are excited for these events to make a return.
