Disneyland, the happiest place on earth, is home to a shopping center named Downtown Disney that resides between both entrances of the theme parks at the Disneyland Resort. Downtown Disney is a hub for guests looking to shop for Disneyland merch or looking for a great place to eat. Some popular stores and restaurants in Downtown Disney include Din Tai Fung, World of Disney, and The Lego Store.
Disney has been thinking about re-imagining Downtown Disney for a while now and it is coming to life. Downtown Disney is one of the first places guests visit before going to theme parks. They can shop for Mickey ears or for some Disney clothes that the shops have to offer. They can eat some of the best food to find around the area. There is also plenty of entertainment such as a bowling alley and live music.
On December 6, 2024, the new “D-Lander” shop will open in Downtown Disney. The shop will sell apparel, handbags, and jewelry. The store will have a lounge area, fitting rooms, and lots of artwork. The highly anticipated “Avenger’s Reserve” shop will open on the same day. The shop will have a statue of the incredible Hulk standing at 9 feet tall. The shop will also have comic books, toys, apparel, and Marvel collectibles.
This winter, the “Disney Wonderful World of Sweets” is also expected to open. The new shop will be home to many sweets that guests can taste along with seeing all the colorfulness inside the shop. The most exciting item arriving at the shop will be Werther’s Original Caramel Popcorn. Other items coming include caramel apples, churro toffee, and lollipops all to fill your sweet needs at the park.
Three new restaurants are also said to be opening, including the widely famous shop in SoCal, Porto’s. The new Porto’s will have a sleek design with a home feel on the inside and guests will be able to enjoy their famous items that can be found at other restaurants around Southern California. This will also be the first Porto’s with a sit-down table service and a full bar, which is one of the exciting inclusions that other Porto’s locations don’t have.
Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon & Pearl’s Roadside BBQ are both upcoming restaurants in Downtown Disney. Both restaurants would be owned by Michelin-star Chef, Joe Isidori. Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon will be a steakhouse serving not only delicious meats but also seafood, sandwiches, and salads. Pearl’s Roadside BBQ will also serve many kinds of meat such as smoked heritage turkey, pulled pork, and beef brisket. These two restaurants are planned to be on the former site of Tortilla Jo’s.
Disneyland is arguably the entertainment center of Southern California with its theme parks. Downtown Disney is also a big part of the Disneyland Resort and with these new exciting additions it will make the experience even better for guests who are visiting the parks or just there to eat or shop.
