Excitement and dread filled Segerstrom High School when students returned from Winter Break, jumping back into a packed schedule that set the tone for a fast and exciting spring semester.
The week began with the announcement of Winter Formal ticket pricing, which is set to take place next month. Tickets went on sale Monday during both lunch periods, with early bird pricing beginning at $40 for students with an ASB sticker. The formal promises an unforgettable night for students at the Santa Ana Elks Lodge, with the theme: A Tale As Old As Time.
Seniors, on the other hand, had a week full of milestones and decisions to make. Many students spent their breaks and downtime working on FAFSA applications, with the March 2 priority deadline adding to the urgency. Alongside this, the Higher Ed Center staff announced a FAFSA workshop for students and parents on Saturday. The Class of 2025 is also eagerly awaiting college admission decisions, with students checking email updates and discussing acceptance choices.
On Tuesday of the first week of school during homeroom, an assembly was organized in the gym to bring the senior class together and highlight important dates. The meeting focused on graduation requirements, upcoming senior celebrations, the senior contract, and the highly anticipated Grad Nite at Disney California Adventure in May. Administrators also stressed the significance of staying on track academically, since some students begin new classes this semester and graduation is approaching.
“From Winter Formal to Grad Nite, there’s so much to look forward to this semester. I’m very excited for all the senior events this year and I’m excited to make more memories with my friends.” said senior Alina Canales.
