Ximena Pimentel is one of our Staff Writers for Segerstrom News who is now graduating this year! Her time at Segerstrom and more specifically Segerstrom News, was filled with writing great stories like about some field trips that happen here at Segerstrom. Ximena put in her best efforts into our Segerstrom News website as a staff writer. Even though she is now graduating, she will still leave behind her great stories for us to remember. We are happy that she was a part of our staff here at Segerstrom.
1) Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Ximena Pimentel, and I am the eldest sibling to my younger brother, which has made me a responsible person and want to do my very best in my work. Aside from that, I am a very passionate person when it comes to my interests and the people I cherish in my life. As of late, I have been deeply interested in music as my two favorite artists, whom I have been listening to for about 6 years, dropped two completely new albums, which made me much happier and look forward to wrapping up my year. It felt like a little sendoff for me and I just really love how both turned out! I also enjoy creating art and, of course, making art of my interests. Crafts in general have been a passion of mine as a kid, and I am glad I haven’t let go of that and have been able to utilize them even now. I am entirely grateful to my friends and family who, without them, wouldn’t have been able to become the person I am today. They always manage to lighten up my day, even a little bit, daily.
2) What is/are your favorite memory(ies) at Segerstrom High School?
My favorite memories here at Segerstrom High School are meeting the kind staff and participating in activities both offered here and voluntary. Being in yearbook for four years here has allowed me to grow both academically and personally, allowing me to engage more with other students through interviews and working together to complete the books throughout the years. Another fond memory I have is just being able to share the high school experience and grow alongside a fellow senior, Daniel Ramirez. It was nice having someone alongside me, as well as my other friends, despite them graduating a year before me. I have made various fun and wonderful memories with them throughout my time here that I plan to cherish close to me.
3) How has your high school experience at Segerstrom shaped your life?
Honestly, my experience here at Segerstrom High School has been excellent. There may have been ups and downs grades-wise and within my own life, but the people and community here allowed me to become more confident and at peace with myself, and open up more as a person. It has provided a second home to me with my friends and staff here, and I have made wonderful memories here with them. I also met outstanding teachers and staff who have left such a positive impact on me and given me great advice.
4) What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to attend Fullerton Community College after I graduate and hope to potentially get a part-time job! Aside from academics, and pursuing a potential career in art. I hope to be able to continue to make more art and learn new ways to create it. I am very excited to see what my future may have in store for me.
5) What is one piece of advice you would give to an incoming Freshman?
Don’t be afraid to try new things and grasp the time and resources offered to you. It’s never too early or too late to learn new things, and don’t take the people around you or time here for granted. Your experience here and what you wish to do are in your hands and are a bigger step into your life than you may realize, and should be taken at your own pace. Don’t forget to look after yourself and your mental health as much as you do your grades. You are not alone.
