On Saturday, September 20th, Fender, in partnership with Orange County Music & Dance, Arts Orange County and OCDE, will be hosting a songwriting workshop in Irvine, free (with RSVP) to all OC high school students.
The workshop will last from 9 AM to 4 PM, and students will explore the components of the songwriting process, with focus on guitar, bass, and ukulele, before ending with original recordings. Students do not have to bring their own instrument (although you are welcome to), and no prior knowledge is required, but your own chromebook or laptop is necessary.
Instruction will be offered from professional teaching artists, as well as free use of the Fender Play App, Fender Studio App and Mustang Micro headphone amplifiers.
Through the courtesy of Arts Orange County, lunch will be provided. Donated by Fender, at the end of the day one student and one teacher will have the opportunity to win a Fender Acoustasonic Player Jazzmaster guitar, so long as they complete all sessions and tasks at the workshop.
In order to attend, you must register, completing both a sign up form and a media release form found at: tinyurl.com/FenderOC. It can be completed online or a physical copy can be brought to the workshop. Overall, it is definitely an opportunity worth checking out even with little musical interest.
