The annual Super Bowl is an event that people all around the world anticipate every year. It is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL). These games are some of the most watched single-sporting events anywhere.
Many people tune in for the game specifically, but one of the biggest parts of the whole event that has fans anticipating the Super Bowl is the halftime show. Every year people wonder who the next performer will be.
This year, Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny is set to headline the show. He was announced as the performer on September 28th. Bad Bunny is one of the biggest Latino artists known globally for his high production shows and his amazing stage presence.
This would not be Bad Bunny’s first time performing for the Super Bowl, however. In 2020, Bad Bunny joined Shakira onstage at the halftime show to perform a mashup of his verse on Cardi B’s “I Like it” and “Chantaje”, even including some verses of his song “Callaita”.
Many fans are excited to see the setlist he will be singing for the halftime show, as in recent years he has seriously blown up with fame. He’s produced albums such as “Un Verano Sin Ti” and “DeBI TiRAR MaS FOTos” which have incredibly popular songs.
Although fans are happy to see a Latino represent their community on one of the biggest stages to date, it has not been met without criticism. Many people believe that he will make his show an “Anti-ICE” show and will make points such as Kendrick Lamar did in his own halftime performance.
According to NJ.Com, Trump advisor Corey Lewandowski stated “It’s so shameful they’ve decided to pick somebody who seems to hate America so much to represent them at the Halftime Show”. This could be seen as a way of throwing shade at the artist who, on his upcoming tour, will be skipping all of the United States. Other criticisms stem from the belief that his music is too provocative to be performing onstage.
As of now, many people are expecting a great performance from Bad Bunny on February 8th, 2026, in Santa Clara, California at Levi’s Stadium.
