On October 18th, 2025, almost 7 million Americans participated in the “No Kings” peaceful protests in all 50 states against the Trump administration.
Democrats in the United States have grown outraged with Donald Trump‘s administration in regards to his several impeachments, ICE raids, the deployment of the National Guard on U.S. soil, the massive layoffs, and all of the federal budget cuts within healthcare and education.
This is evident on the No Kings Website where it is stated “The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty.” This prompted them to plan over 2,700 events for everyone to fight for what they believe in.
As stated on CNN, protests in Los Angeles were accompanied by dancing protesters in inflatable costumes waving American, Mexican, and Pride flags with bands playing music. This was developed after a protestor stated “I think it’s really hard to call something a war zone when you look at something and it’s just a block party and people in Halloween costumes.”
These actions were then continued through all 50 states by typical citizens and federal employees, further proving that it is possible to protest peacefully without escalating to violence.
This prompted several city police departments to issue thank you statements for their cities peaceful protests as there has been no reported arrests or incidents in regards to a protester being at fault.
However, nothing is ever perfect. Despite protests being peaceful in Marietta, Georgia, a man in a black pickup truck drove to a protest and left his vehicle to steal an American flag from the hands of Alec Whitaker, a protester. At which point, 72 year old Greg Davis attempted to retrieve the flag for the young protestor where he was pushed to the ground by an antagonist. The antagonist then put the flag into his truck where it fell to the ground. This opportunity allowed Whitaker to reach for his flag; however, the man kicked Whitaker and snapped the American flag over his knee. He proceeded to put the flag in his truck and drive off. When police later found the man, they retrieved the flag and let the man proceed with his day.
In response to all of the peaceful protests, a White House spokeswoman named Abigail Jackson, stated “who cares?”, according to NPR, which is along similar lines to Republican House leader Mike Johnson’s comment expressing that the protests were “hate America” rallies.
These two responses are extremely different to Progressive Senator Bernie Sander’s statement: “It is in danger when we have a president who wants more and more power in his own hands and in the hands of his fellow oligarchs,” according to CNN. Following his statement he went on to state his opinions of the Trump’s Administration actions.
The protests began in June and they will not be stopping anytime soon. Especially not in Orange County, where the majority population is of immigrant descent. The nine protests on October 18th, 2025 were simply the beginning of people’s actions to speak up and fight for their families, beliefs, and rights.
