On the night of November 22, the Seasons52 Restaurant at South Coast Plaza was attacked. There were about 3 to 5 people wearing black clothes and masks. They attacked the restaurant on the patio.

The robbers told everyone on the patio to get down. After all the people followed their orders, they stole a purse among other things. One of the victims lost a family heirloom to the robbers. Once the Costa Mesa police got there, the robbers had left the scene. The police were unsure about how many people were on the patio but the robbers came around 7:15 pm, which is dinner rush.

“At least one of the robbers was possibly armed with a handgun,” says Costa Mesa Police Department spokeswoman Roxi Fyad.

South Coast Plaza is near Segerstrom High School, this attack that happened recently could have affected so many students here at Segerstrom. South Coast Plaza is a mall that many of our jaguars hang out at. South Coast Plaza is near the homes of many of our students here and a 5-minute drive and a 26-minute walk from Segerstrom. We even have one of our Chemistry teachers, Mrs. Espinosa, who works at the Seasons52 restaurant.

“It’s rather scary because since I do live really close, they could have made their way over to my neighborhood and jeopardized our safety. It’s also shocking because I thought I lived in a safe neighborhood,” says Daisy Carbajal (12).
