Controversial youtuber turned professional boxer Jake Paul has been officially confirmed to be fighting Anthony Joshua this December in a professional boxing match. The fight will be streamed on Netflix and take place at the Kaseya Center in Miami.
The 28 year old Paul was meant to fight Gervonta “Tank” Davis on November 14, 2025, but the fight was ultimately cancelled due to new allegations coming to light in October from Davis’s ex-girlfriend accusing him of battery. This is not the first time Davis has been accused of similar charges as he has a thorough criminal record that dates back to 2019.
Netflix promptly cancelled the fight and Jake Paul responded on X by apologizing to the fans and other fighters on the card for the cancellation, but also getting in his own jabs on Davis calling him an “actual human piece of garbage.” Also saying he was difficult to work with and that a woman abuser shouldn’t have gotten the platform to “grow his fans and to grow his bank account. My company champions women.”
He ended his tweet with a simple sentence, “As for me it’s on to the next one as always. Anyone. Anytime. Any place.”
People then began to speculate who his next fight would be against, some rumors floated around that it would be a rematch with Nate Diaz, but Paul himself closed it saying, “It isn’t meant to be, but respect for willing to step up on two weeks notice.”
Other names that floated around were Francis Ngannou, Ryan Garcia, Edgar Berlanga, and Andre Ward. However the name that took fans by surprise was Anthony Joshua. The rumors that Paul was going to fight Joshua started a few days before the official announcement.
The reason this took so many people by surprise was because Anthony Joshua is an extremely high level boxer and former world champion. He stands 6 feet and 6 inches tall and weighs about 245 pounds, towering over Paul who stands at 6 foot tall and weighs about 200 pounds. Differing from Paul’s previous opponents who have mostly been smaller or the same size as him, Joshua is being perceived as an extremely dangerous threat due to his size and experience. Paul’s record is 12-1 with 7 knockouts and Joshua’s is 28-4 with 25 knockouts. Joshua is also an Olympic gold medalist in heavyweight boxing, winning it during the 2012 London Olympics.
This announcement has also caused a huge stir online as some people are giving Paul credit for his bravery while some are saying the fight will be scripted. Several fighters and promoters such as Eddie Hearn, John and Tyson Fury, Daniel Cormier, and Dana White have spoken about it as well. However, only time will tell what the result is when the fight takes place on Netflix on December 19.
