As the fall season steadily approaches, Homecoming is also on its way. In order to get students in spirit and looking forward to the event, ASB has organized the second spirit week of the year, lasting from October 2nd to October 6th. Each day is a different theme to dress up, ranging from sports-related clothing to wearing pink.
The first day of spirit week will be Monday, October 2nd. This day the school encourages students to dress up with their favorite sports jersey or dress up to represent their fall sport. You’ll see students wearing all different types of jerseys or dressing up and repping volleyball, cross country, tennis, and other fall sports. If a student is in a sport, their uniform also counts.
The second day, October 3rd, will bring some glamorous faces to the Segerstrom campus. Dubbed “Shine Like a Star,” students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite celebrity or wear their favorite band shirt. Some might dress like the paparazzi are around the corner. Others would maybe prefer to stay a little more casual and wear their usual band tee. Either is completely acceptable.
The third day falls on Wednesday, October 4th. Named “Blank Canvas,” students are asked to wear white shirts with creative but appropriate works of art on them! Go all out to show off your masterpieces to the school, and maybe even add a few more on there throughout the day too.
Thursday’s spirit day, “Stroll in a Museum,” is the students’ day to go all out and dress in their best “dapper” outfit. This means dressing up to the fullest extent. The term dapper is defined as “neat and trim in dress and appearance,” so come to school dressed like you’re ready for a fancy dinner.
The last day is Friday, right before the day everyone has been waiting for. October 6th, “Pink Palettes,” is to show support and spread awareness on breast cancer, and also get everyone in spirit for our Homecoming football game that night. Come to school dressed in your best pink outfit.
This spirit week, ASB is introducing something new. Students can now pick up a Hoco Spirit Week stamp card at the ASB window and get a stamp for each day they dress up. The cards are due by the end of second lunch on Friday, October 6th. Students who participate in all five days of the spirit week, get it stamped, and turn it in on time will be entered into a raffle. Winners will be announced at the homecoming football game, which means you must be there to receive your prize.
Homecoming is traditionally meant to be a celebration dance and football game that brings together the community. It is also an opportunity for any alumni who would like to revisit the school to come and do so. It has risen in popularity over the years due to being a great event for students to show off school spirit and pride.

This is a great article that helped the school stay on track for the Hoco spirit week. I liked the way you broke down each day and what the spirit week that day is. This would help some people to have school spirit by being involved.
