On Friday, April 17th, Segerstrom students will be allowed to pre-register to vote during both lunches. In addition, over the course of the next few days, students will be allowed to begin this process during their Economics or Government course.
These efforts were founded by a group of 4 extraordinary students here at Segerstrom High School as a contribution to their California State Seal of Civic Engagement.
The California State Seal of Civic Engagement began this 2025-2026 school year here at Segerstrom with 162 extremely involved students. This seal will be stamped onto their high school diplomas highlighting the student’s amazing contributions to making a better community.
These 4 students were extremely determined to make a difference and in order to complete this they utilized all of their resources of the Segerstrom school staff and administration. In addition, one of the students is a fellow with a wonderful local organization called Santa Ana Youth (SAY) Votes.
So far these efforts have been successful in helping students pre-register to vote and walk into the world prepared to vote at the next elections.
Voting may not seem very important; however, it is. Voting at each election, no matter how small or how big, makes a difference because the people who we elect into offices will determine our laws and life moving forward. These new laws and regulations will have great effects on everyone’s daily lives and should be taken very seriously.
Change happens everyday and that begins with us.
