Segerstrom News will miss our social media producer! Brianna’s wonderful ideas, consistency in her videos, and punctuality in her work made her a wonderful member of the journalism program. But on top of that, her kind demeanor and easygoing personality made her a perfect fit on the staff! You might see her quietly doing her work, or starting an argument with Fernie, and we’ll miss her as she goes on to attend IVC!
1) Tell me about yourself.
Hi, my name is Brianna Panigua. In school, I would say I’m a pretty quiet and to myself person. I like to stay in my own bubble, and I usually pay attention to people before I interact with them because I like to understand their character first. But outside of school, I’m honestly the opposite. I’m very outgoing, athletic, and social. I also like having a schedule and being disciplined with my schoolwork, goals, and eating habits.
2) What is your favorite memory at Segerstrom?
My favorite memory at Segerstrom High School was during my junior year when I played tennis on the JV team. Me and my teammate were playing against another doubles team, and it ended up being the longest match. I remember wanting to win so badly because I wanted to show my coach and teammates how hard we had been working during practice and training. When we finally won the last point, I was so happy and proud of both of us.
3) How has your high school experience here at Segerstrom shaped you?
My high school experience at Segerstrom High School really shaped me into the person I am today. I met amazing teachers who taught me a lot, not just academically but also about life and why they do what they do. I also met some incredible people who became my best friends, and they made my high school experience so memorable. This school also helped me figure out what I want to do after graduation. Even though taking extra classes was difficult at times, I’m really grateful I pushed myself because it helped me grow and become more confident about my future.
4) What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I plan on attending Irvine Valley College for two years to complete my prerequisites for dental hygiene. After that, I want to transfer to West Coast University and continue in their dental hygiene program. If you would’ve told freshman-year me that I would want to work in the dental field, I probably would’ve laughed. It’s crazy to see how much your mindset, goals, and future plans can change over time.
5) What is one piece of advice you would give to incoming freshmen?
One piece of advice I would give to incoming freshmen is to get involved. Join clubs, sports, or activities because it’s one of the best ways to meet new people and make friendships that can last a long time.
