Angelina Slevkoff is one of our staff writers and editors. Angelina is in her first year in journalism but she has risen to be an amazing and consistent writer, and it would be surprising if she didn’t hold the title of most stories published this year! She has had a great year in journalism by doing many great things for the program.
1) Tell me about yourself.
I draw a lot, art’s my thing in general. I specifically like digital art or doing oil paintings.
2) What’s your favorite memory at Segerstrom?
My favorite memory always will be the various Pumpkin Fests. I hated planning for them, but actually working on the day was always fun for me.
3) How was your high school experience at Segerstrom shaped you?
I had a very good and very bad time in high school. My teachers have always been amazing to me and really gave me the spark to achieve what I did and keep my grades as high as I could. They made me truly want to learn, and made me enjoy many subjects. Specifically, Mrs. Segalla, all my math teachers, Mr. Q, Mrs. Basu, Mr. Werdel, and Mrs. Cantu, and all my english teachers, Mr. Martinez, Mrs. Barron, Mrs. Conferti, and Mrs. A always gave me support in their subjects. I’m not the best with words, but I don’t think I’d be where I am without their help. Even then, I just had such a horrible time in junior year because of other factors that I lost a lot of heart for school that I never got back. Because of that, and other things, I’ll still be very happy to leave Segerstrom.
4) What are your plans after high school?
I’m committed to Cal State Fullerton right now for accounting and have been accepted into their honors program. I plan to get my certification at Fullerton, too, and just work things out from there. Apart from school, I want to go to the beach more, get out of the house more, and reconnect with some of my old friends. I haven’t spent my high school days well, but there’s always more days to come.
5) What is one piece of advice you would give an incoming freshman?
Don’t take too many APs no matter what counselors say, it’s not worth the stress.
