Anamaria is one of our journalism staff writers, who is pursuing a career in the medical field. She’s very academically and socially involved in school, with clubs, and AP classes, and even staying on top she still manages to have fun outside of school. She’s the most friendly and welcoming person to know and has a good sense of humor. She has a good mindset and has a goal set for herself all the while pushing herself to complete and achieve, or sometimes exceed expectations.
1) Tell me about yourself.
My name is Anamaria, I’m a senior here at Segerstrom. Some things about me is my favorite color is blue, I have a really unhealthy obsession with energy drinks (redbulls and monsters more specifically), and I love going on adventures whether that’s to amusement parks or concerts, I just love an adventure. I am the youngest in my family and a first generation student. I have earned two associates degrees, one in Liberal Arts: Social and behavior sciences and Liberal Arts: Arts, humanities, and communications. I am the president of the Femineers club, president (and co-founder of) of H2GP Club, Vice President of Friends of the Library club, and liaison (co-founder) of the drone soccer club. I have completed two career focused internships, one in a professional engineering setting and the child development internship where I work in a 5th grade classroom.
2) What is your favorite memory at Segerstrom?
A memorable moment I have here at Segerstrom would be last years Femineers potluck where we had way too much food than was even needed, and we had a piñata that we smashed at the end. Unfortunately there were a few computers that fell victims to a flying piñata.
3) How has your high school experience here at Segerstrom shaped you?
Since being here at Segerstrom I have been pushed really hard to get out of my comfort zone and this has made me into one of the better versions of myself, because now I am a lot more diverse and open to new experiences.
4) What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I will attend OCC in the fall for EMS (Emergency Medical Services) and in the spring I will be continuing with mechanical engineering.
5) What is one piece of advice you would give to incoming freshman?
One piece or advice I would give to an incoming freshman is to never let other peoples opinions or actions influence who you are as a person. You may not be liked in every room you enter, but you can never grow where you are not content, be content where you are and with who you are.
